My Winter Staples

Since fall is sadly coming to an end I chose a few of my winter staples to help get you ready for winter!

1. Scarves (pictured: aritzia)- Big scarves are an absolute must during the winter season. They're super comfy and warm and look cute with almost anything!

2. Basic tee's (pictured: topshop)- Black and white tee's are my go to outfit when i have absolutely no idea what to wear. They're super easy to layer and make for a perfect outfit when you're in a rush!

3. Peacoat (pictured: aritzia)- Sometimes my big fluffy winter coat does not cut it when I'm going out to dinner or out with friends which is why i opt for a peacoat. Believe it or not peacoats are warmer than they look, especially the one from aritzia in the picture above.

4. Leather pants (pictured: club monaco)- If you've read any of my other blog posts I constantly go on and on about leather pants/ leggings and trust me they are so worth it! They're very versatile, comfy and warm.

5. Boots (pictured: frye)- A girl can never have to many boots in her closet! There are so many different types of boots out there that will suit your style and keep your feet warm all winter long.

6. Knit headband (pictured: aldo)- Lately, I've been loving knit headbands because they're adorable and keep your ears warm. They are sold at almost any store and come in a variety of colours (my favourites are burgundy, grey and black)

Those are my 6 staples for this winter, what are yours?

Love or Hate: The Skinny Sweats

Outfit #1 (to school)
Sweats: Rag & Bone
Shoes: Sam Edelmen 'circus'
Jacket: All Saints
Shirt: Top Shop
Beanie: Top Shop
Bag: Zara

Outfit #2 (to work)
Sweats: J Crew
Shoes: Bianca Martino
Blazer: Michael Kors
Bag: Zara
Necklace: Topshop

A trend I've been seeing lately is the 'sweatpants chic' trend. Sweats are being worn with heels, boots, blazers... basically anything you would wear with jeans. I'm not going to lie I kind of like this trend. I mean who wouldn't want to wear sweatpants out? However, that doesn't mean all sweatpants are now acceptable, they have to be the right ones....the skinny sweat. Above I chose 2 different outfits that I would wear with sweats. The first one is more of a casual everyday look with a beanie and chunky heels. The second one is a going out for dinner or lunch look or even to work if you are that daring! So many celebrities and fashion icons are following this trend but what do you think? Should sweatpants only be worn to.... sweat in?

Winter Beauty Essentials

The weather outside is quickly changing and with new seasons comes new beauty products! Above, I chose a few products that I think are essential for getting through a cold winter season.

1. Body Lotion- Cold weather brings dry skin. Lotion is definitely a staple I will always have in my bag to keep my skin soft all winter long.

2. Lip Balm- Don't neglect your lips! They can also get very dry. Right now I am OBSESSED with EOS balms (vanilla bean is my favourite!). I highly recommend getting one if you didn't already (p.s they're all natural)

3. Warm Fuzzy Socks- I don't know if this is just me but my feet are literally always freezing during winter, no matter what shoes I wear. So fuzzy socks are a definite staple for me this season.

4. Moroccan/ Macadamia Oil- I'm not a fan of frizzy hair, especially in the winter. Moroccan or macadamia oil can help prevent that. Apply a little bit to your hair when you get out of the shower and voila, frizz free hair =).

5. Cuticle Oil- Cuticles are often neglected but they too can get very dry. Apply a little bit before you go to bed to keep your cuticles from drying out. (If you don't have cuticle oil, olive oil will also do the trick!)

6. Candles- Because who doesn't love Christmas scented candles?!

7. Mittens- To avoid drying out hands when your out in the cold!

8. Lip exfoliator- Applying a lip exfoliator will get rid of the dead skin on your lips and make them even softer! Apply this along with a lip balm to get super soft lips this season.

9.  Face Cream- Last but not least, a good face cream! Your face is probably the most exposed to the cold making it the first to become dry (A dry face is painful, trust me!!). To avoid having dry, cracked skin apply a face cream before bed or in the morning (or both)!

Happy Winter!

Leather Leggings: 3 ways

Outfit #1: Leggings- J crew
Plaid Top- Aritzia
Denim Jacket- Levi's
Sneakers- Converse

Outfit #2: Leggings- J crew
Knit sweater- Rag & Bone
Denim button up- Unknown
Shoes- Rag & Bone
Watch- Marc Jacobs

Outfit #3: Leggings- J crew
Knit sweater- H&M
Sneakers- Superga

The first time I saw leather leggings I assumed they had to be worn all dressed up with heels and what not..... not true! Leather leggings are super versatile and can be worn in many different ways to almost any occasion. Up above I chose 3 ways I would wear leather leggings, all very simple, comfy and casual outfits. The leather leggings I used in the pictures were from J Crew but you can find a pair almost anywhere (I bought mine from American Apparel)! Now lets talk about the outfits. Outfit number one is for those of you who are more into that grunge look. A plaid top and a denim jacket would go perfect with leather leggings and if you want you can even throw on a beanie too. Outfit number two is more of a preppy but comfy look. I paired these leggings with a fitted knit sweater, a denim button and some adorable booties to finish off the look. Lastly (and my favourite) outfit #3, this outfit is super simple and super cute. I just threw these leggings with an oversized sweater and a pair of hightop superga sneakers (love, love, love!) and the outfit is done... see? So simple, yet so cute!!

Leather leggings... love them or hate them?

Winter Polish Faves

1. Essie- devils advocate
2. Essie- midnight cami
3. Essie- over the edge
4. Essie- no place like chrome

With winter quickly approaching I decided to choose a few of my all time favourite colours to wear during the season. As you can tell I am a huge fan of Essie so expect some more nail posts featuring them. Ok, so lets begin! I love love love dark purples, if i could I would wear this colour all year round. However, since there are very few seasons wearing a dark purple polish is acceptable I will definitely make sure I get my use of this colour. Next up, navy (I know, i know, the photo above is more of a metallic blue) but navy polishes are perfect for winter! When I paint my nails navy I usually add white or silver glitter to a few nails to jazz the look up a little bit. Charcoal is also super in for winter! If your bored of painting your nails black I would definitely opt for this colour to give your nails a little twist. Now, enough of all those dark colours silver is a perfect festive colour to paint your nails this season. If silver is a little bold for your liking you can always use it as an accent nail and still get the same effect!

What are you wearing on your nails this winter?

Trend Alert: Chunky Heel

1. Sam Edeleman- Louis
2. Sam Edeleman- Penrose
3. Sam Edeleman- Lucca
4. Steve Madden- Arieel
5. Rag & Bone- Harrow

These little booties have been all over the streets lately and personally, I adore them! They have just the right amount of height to wear to a lunch date or just a casual day out with friends and are super easy to style. If you're in a rush throw on a pair of jeans, a cozy knit sweater and these booties to look casual but chic. Now, where can you buy them? You can find a pair in literally any shoe store you walk into but above I listed my top 5. Keep in mind they all vary in price, so whether you decide to splurge or save there is a pair of these chunky heel booties out there for you. A pair of these will definitely be on my christmas list this year, how about yours?
